The Papillon Toy dog breed is well known as the “butterfly dog” and also called the Continental Toy Spaniel. The Papillon breed has a long silky tail, and its long lustrous coat is always a white coloring with patches of any other color, except liver. The butterfly ears are the most noticeable trait of the Papillon. Phalene Papillon is the name for a Papillon with dropped ears that do not stand up. The Papillon has a white band on the nose that is very noticeable.
Papillon puppies are known to be very friendly, and outgoing. They are super intelligent dogs. This dog breed loves outdoor activity and is stronger than you would think. Papillons are lively and very loving as well. Papillon puppies are playful and charming. They are super sweet and tiny as well. They love to be in your arms and are small enough in size that you can carry around your new puppy with you in a purse or under your arm. Papillons are known to be very protective and possessive of their owners and family members.
The Papillon is a small toy dog breed so they can fair well in an apartment setting or city environment. They do have a tendency to be great watchdogs so when they hear casual noises they can alert the owner thinking there is a reason to alert. They have a tendency to bark quite a lot because of these instincts.
The playful little Papillon will love to go for a long walk or go for a run with you but if they are not able to they will be just fine inside the home. They are small in size and will be ok with little outdoor activity. They do need some exercise on a daily basis no matter how they get it.
Grooming your new Papillon puppy is quite easy. A daily comb through of their long silky smooth hair is all that is needed. The Papillon is considered to be an average shedding dog breed.
